Jeff Medanich

Biography

JEFF MEDANICH has been building, remodeling, and preserving residential buildings for 35 years. For the last 14 years he has been specializing in green building and sustainable building techniques for new homes. Medanich works with Colorado Chautauqua Association, a national historic landmark, combining his passion for sustainable building and love of historic buildings into what he’s calling High Performance Preservation.

Medanich is vice president of Harvard Communities in Denver. He is a LEEDLeadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED for Homes is the residential green building program from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). While this program is primarily designed for and applicable to new home projects, major gut rehabs can qualify. A brief overview of the points structure: - Certified: 45 – 59 points - Silver: 60 – 74 points - Gold: 75 – 89 points - Platinum: 90 – 136 points Total available points: 136 Total prerequisite points: 25 Accredited Professional and was inducted into the Colorado Built GreenEnvironmental building program of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish counties in Washington state. Offers four rating systems that cover single family homes, remodels, multifamily dwellings, and communities; ratings are either self-certified or verified by a third party, depending on the level of certification. Hall of Fame in 2005. He lives in Berthoud, Colorado, in a farmhouse built in 1910 with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and four grandchildren.
