Biography
VERNON MCKOWN is the Co-owner and President of Sales for Ideal Homes, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Founded in 1990, Ideal Homes has built more than 500 new homes per year and $75 million in sales. They are the first builder in america to get Energy StarLabeling system sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy for labeling the most energy-efficient products on the market; applies to a wide range of products, from computers and office equipment to refrigerators and air conditioners. for homes under $150,000, and they are also the first builder in the state of Oklahoma to introduce guaranteed utilities. They have won five National Energy Value Housing Awards and have been recognized as one of the 101 Best Residential Construction Companies to work for in the United States. In 2005 and 2006, Ideal Homes was awarded two National Housing Quality Awards, a Silver and a Gold, and in 2007, as America’s Best Builder.
Vernon previously served as National Board President for EEBA and on the American Lung Association Steering Committee for the Health House project. He is a frequent presenter at the National Builder’s Show and EEBA Conference. He has served on a wide variety of philanthropic and charitable boards. Vernon has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. Vernon and his wife, Ronda, have two children, Macy, 8 years, and Chapman, 4 years.
