A one-day conference on October 15 organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) will draw green builders, architects, and planners to discuss a variety of sustainable building issues and mark the release of a new database of high-performance buildings.

BuildingEnergy NYC, first organized in 2012 as a small conference focused on energy-efficient multifamily buildings, has since expanded to include a number of other disciplines, NESEA said in a news release. The conference opens at 8:30 a.m. at the TKP New York Conference Center, 109 West 39th Street near Bryant Park.

Four sessions are scheduled during the day, two in the morning and two after lunch, plus a reception beginning at 5 p.m. NESEA has posted a conference schedule at its website listing speakers and areas of focus for each session.

The High Performance Buildings Database that will be launched at this year’s conference is a project the association undertook jointly with the Net Zero Energy Coalition. Projects qualify for listing by submitting data on energy use or an energy model showing the building reached net-zero energy performance on an annual basis, plus or minus 10%, NESEA said.

Each case study has been peer-reviewed by a net-zero expert.

NESEA didn’t provide any additional information about the database, but said it “hopes to move the market by sharing stories of these and other outstanding projects.” Case studies will be posted at the conference.
