BioBased 501 soybean-oil-based polyurethane spray foam insulation functions much like petroleum-based polyurethane foam. The polyol component of the two-part urethane consists of about 40% soy-derived oil. The open-cell foam is installed at a density of 0.5 lbs/ft3 using CO2 as the blowing agent. It expands to 100 times its original liquid size. The product has an R-valueMeasure of resistance to heat flow; the higher the R-value, the lower the heat loss. The inverse of U-factor. of 3.7/in. (R-13 at 3-1/2") and is applied with customized equipment by certified installers.BioBased 501 soybean-oil-based polyurethane spray foam insulation functions much like petroleum-based polyurethane foam.
