R values – examples of commercial applications

rcr113 | Posted in Building Code Questions on

I am trying to narrow down a list of commercial applications that require the following R-values:

R-4
R-8
R-12
R-15
R-20
R-27

The applications are more for partitioning large areas (loading docks from warehouse, freezers from packaging, refrigerators from packaging, etc). Any chance someone can either provide a range of R-values for different examples of commercial applications?

Thanks!

    Rona,
If you are asking about building code requirements for commercial buildings, I can't help you. But in general, R-4 is OK for a window. R-20 is OK for an exterior wall in a mild climate, and R-27 is a little better for an exterior wall in a mild climate.

None of the R-values you listed are appropriate for an attic or roof.
