What percentage of our total energy is consumed by residential users?

From the US Energy Information Administration – EIA 2010
Residential 22%, Commercial 19%, Industrial 30% and Transportation 29%

Residential Fuel Allocation – EIA 2005
Space Heating 41%, Lighting 26%, WH 20%, AC 8% and Refrigeration 5%

Types of Fuel – EIA 2006
Nat Gas 45%, Elect 41%, Fuel Oil 8%, Propane 5%, Renewables 1%

Armando has provided you the best source for information on the U.S.

Data on other countries will vary widely from the figures cited for the U.S.

The Information I gave you before is published by the EIA every 4-5 years... that's why some info appears to be outdated. Some data suggests that the renewables in the US have gone way up to 8% specially in solar and wind. We'll have to wait and see later this year (I hope)
