What fasteners to use with Cedar Shingles over 1" IKO Enerfoil?
My wall composition will be: 2x6 studs, 1/2" plywood, 1" IKO Enerfoil (R7), perhaps a breathing mesh? and Cedar Shakes/Shingles. I'm wondering what you folks recommend for a fastener (length/type)?
Thanks!

Evan,
Cedar shingles cannot be installed directly over rigid foam, so you'll need to include a layer of Home Slicker (a plastic drainage mat) between the back of the shingles and the rigid foam.
Here is the standard recommendation for shingle fasteners: "Fasteners should be long enough to penetrate into the sheathing at least 3/4 inch or all the way through." With the 1-inch rigid foam and the 1/4-inch Home Slicker, you'll need to select fasteners that are at least 1 1/4 inch longer than usual. Make sure that your fasteners have a slender diameter, so you don't split the shingles. Needless to say, you want galvanized or stainless-steel fasteners.
