cnote75 | Posted in General Questions on

Does anyone know if the solar or geothermal tax credits set to expire next year got extended in the proposed Federal budget?

It's been widely reported in the past couple of days.

I'm assuming the that GSHP was included on that, but haven't search out industry bloggery specific to geo. The solar & wind folks are over the moon on the news this week (as are their stock prices.)

Thanks. I feel like a dummy for not checking the home page. I don't see any mention of GSHP anywhere, but I'm willing to bet it slid through.

    C.,
A sloppily written article in the N.Y. Times noted, "The solar and wind industries got much of what they wanted, energy specialists said, while some technologies, like fuel cell storage and geothermal, were largely left off the table."

What does the N.Y. Times mean by "geothermal"? Does it mean tax breaks for homeowners who install ground-source heat pumps? Or tax breaks for utilities that generate electricity from water and steam heated underground by volcanic activity? Who knows?
