Flat roof roofing, mid-coast Maine

New construction small 8 x 20 attached shed needs roofing. Parameters are: Owner/ skilled carpenter installable. Pitch of roof is 1/2 /12.
I have seen this type of roofing installed; it resembles ice shield, and installer stated it worked on flat roof.
Can anyone help?

It sounds like you are talking about EPDM roofing.
Potter, any of the local lumberyards should be able to order EPDM (a thick rubber membrane) for you, along with the associated parts and pieces. It's not that hard to install but it is heavy and cumbersome, so not the easiest to do alone either. With a pitch that low, though, I don't think I'd trust any other roofing product. It may be worth talking to Beacon Sales in Auburn, a commercial roofing supplier, if the local yards don't want to deal with such a small order or if you need more installation advice.
