Appliances are significant ongoing users of energy and potable water. Federal standards for some appliances are helping to ensure that certain new appliances will be far more efficient than models they are replacing, but some manufacturers offer products that significantly exceed federal standards. Many of the most efficient appliances come from Europe, where energy is more expensive than in North America.

Mike,
For a variety of reasons, it's impossible for GBA's list of green products to be comprehensive or completely up-to-date. I certainly agree with you that Sunfrost refrigerators are very efficient. I have had a Sunfrost refrigerator in my home for 20 years, and I am very pleased with its performance.

SunFrost refrigerators?

I see that SunFrost is not represented. Is there a reason? I believe that they are by far the lowest energy consumption of any refrigerator, bar none.
