What makes this product green?
- Reduces heating and cooling loads
Made from high-density EPSExpanded polystyrene. Type of rigid foam insulation that, unlike extruded polystyrene (XPS), does not contain ozone-depleting HCFCs. EPS frequently has a high recycled content. Its vapor permeability is higher and its R-value lower than XPS insulation. EPS insulation is classified by type: Type I is lowest in density and strength and Type X is highest., The Energy Guardian™ is an insulating and air-sealing cover for attic hatches and pull-down ladders. These patent-pending units consist of a frame and a snug-fitting lid, which is simply put aside and then put in place again when entering and exiting the attic. The ladder-cover version fits any opening less than 35" x 63" and allows 7-1/2" clearance for a folded ladder. A second frame can be added for 16-1/2" total clearance. The attic hatch cover is designed to fit any opening measuring less than 28" x 32". For areas with little clearance, a 2" frame is available for 7" of total clearance; a 10" frame allows 15" of clearance. The manufacturer claims an R-valueMeasure of resistance to heat flow; the higher the R-value, the lower the heat loss. The inverse of U-factor. of 39 and offers a lifetime warranty. Significant energy savings can be achieved.
