Roxul makes mineral wool batt insulationInsulation, usually of fiberglass or mineral wool and often faced with paper, typically installed between studs in walls and between joists in ceiling cavities. Correct installation is crucial to performance. for both residential and commercial applications. The company’s products are made from basalt and a minimum 40% recycled iron ore slag. Acoustic fire batt is a commercial product made for wall and floor systems. It provides fire resistance as well as sound absorption coefficients (NRCs) from 0.70 to 1.10 for 1"- to 4"-thick batts, respectively. Roxul’s Safe’n’Sound residential batt provides an NRC of 1.05 for a 3" batt and comes in widths for metal (16.25" and 24") and wood (15.25" and 23") wall studs. ComfortBatt is for general purpose use and comes in 3.5" and 5.5" thicknesses and widths of 15.25" and 23". Roxul's batt insulation is GreenguardThird-party certification program that identifies building products and materials which produce relatively low levels of emissions. GreenGuard is administered by the nonprofit GreenGuard Environmental Institute (GEI). Other GEI programs include the Children & Schools standard, which addresses emission standards for educational facilities, and the GreenGuard for Building Construction Program, a mold risk-reduction program that certifies the design, construction, and ongoing operations of new multifamily and commercial properties. Children & Schools certified for low emissions and is being sold in retail stores in the U.S. R-values are 4.0 and 4.1 per inch for the residential and commercial batts, respectively.
