Thermax is a brand of non-structural, rigid board insulation products consisting of a glass-fiber reinforced polyisocyanurate foam faced with aluminum foil. Depending on the product, the faces differ in thickness and are either embossed aluminum or embossed white acrylic-coated aluminum. Thermax has an R-ValueMeasure of resistance to heat flow; the higher the R-value, the lower the heat loss. The inverse of U-factor. of 6.5 per inch and is designed for use in wall and roof assemblies, crawlspaces, and interior basement applications. Thermax products are made with non-ozone-depleting hydrocarbon blowing agents. However, these blowing agents still contribute to global warming.
