The Wood Doctor WD-HE8000 outdoor wood-fired boiler (OWB) burns cordwood at high-temperatures to produce heat for residential, light commercial, or multi-building use. OWBs can typically be plumbed to provide supplemental domestic hot water, as well. This unit uses two burn chambers: the first evaporates moisture from the wood and creates combustion gasses, and the second takes these gasses and adds superheated air, increasing the temperature to over 1800ºF. The high temperatures burn wood nearly completely and are capable of producing an eight-hour average 113,000 BtuBritish thermal unit, the amount of heat required to raise one pound of water (about a pint) one degree Fahrenheit in temperature—about the heat content of one wooden kitchen match. One Btu is equivalent to 0.293 watt-hours or 1,055 joules. /hr while reducing emissions to 6.1 g/hr--below EPA’s Phase II requirements for outdoor wood-fired boilers. These units are made from boiler plate steel and can handle logs as long as 26".
