Consider a laptop computer

Laptops cost less to operate than desktop models.
Laptops use significantly less energy than desktop computers and have many power-conserving features built in because they are designed to run on batteries. Laptop screens are not as large as some video displays, but laptops are more energy efficient than standard desktop models even when paired with larger, flat-screen monitors. A word of caution: Plug-in transformers continue to use energy even when they are not connected to the computer. To reap the most energy savings, plug the transformers into power strips that can be turned off when the computer is not being used.
