Sawdust, dirt and other debris is often tracked into the house during construction, and it can find its way into HVAC ducts and other hard-to-clean places. Buy covers for floor registers to keep the ducts clean, and look for ways to reduce the amount of dust produced on the job. Using wet saws for cutting tile and brick, connecting power tools to shop vacs, and placing floor mats near entrances all can help. One goal should be to keep debris from accumulating in nooks and crannies that are hard to clean later.
