Hire a landscape architect to help site the house
Deciding where the house goes on the lot is more complicated than it looks.
A landscape architect or other specialist also can help with locating walkways, outbuildings and other landscape features. Get someone involved early in the planning process for the best result. The benefits are many, but costs will be higher.

NGBSNational Green Building Standard Based on the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines and passed through ANSI. This standard can be applied to both new homes, remodeling projects, and additions. /ICC-700: 5 points for completing a natural resources inventory under the direction of a qualified professional; and 6 points for implementing a plan to conserve high priority resources (503.1); 5 points for formulating a plan to restore or enhance natural vegetation cleared during construction (503.5).
