Masonry heaters burn wood at very high temperatures. They produce low emissions and very little ash. Common in parts of Europe, masonry heaters are very simple and durable, and once they're warmed up can keep a well-insulated house warm for 24 hours. However, masonry heaters are usually built on site and are expensive.
