Keep indoor humidity at comfortable levels
Relative humidity between 30% and 60% is ideal.
Low humidity can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation. High humidity can encourage the growth of fungi and dust mites, and it makes the house uncomfortable. Very high and very low humidity is also tough on wood floors and furniture. When outdoor air is warm and humid, air conditioning or a dehumidifier will help.
