Plant a fence rather than build it

Vegetation makes an attractive, and effective, fence.
Trees and perennials can block an unwanted view or give a yard more privacy, and they never need painting or repairs. Two or three layers of thorny plants may even be used for security. Alternately, some vines and trees can be used to hide standard fencing. Plants used as fencing or borders should be indigenous species that don't require watering or excessive maintenance once they are established.
