Require a waste management plan from all subcontractors
Make waste management part of the deal.
Effective waste management begins in the early planning stages of a project. Contracts to subs should be awarded in part on submission of a clear and well-developed plan for minimizing waste and reusing or recycling as much material as possible. This approach may reduce the number of contractors interested in bidding on a job, or it may require some up-front training. But insisting on a plan up front yields a better end result.
