Use a dehumidifier
Dryer air lowers the need for air conditioning.
A dehumidifier makes air seem cooler, so AC settings can be bumped up or smaller equipment can be installed. A central cooling system's capacity to dehumidify is reflected in its sensible heat ratio (SHR). An SHR of .75 or lower provides better dehumidification. In humid climates, stand-alone dehumidification may be required during shoulder seasons, those brief times of year when neither heating and cooling is required. In some ares, a dehumidifier may allow the elimination of air conditioning entirely.
