Use insulated water-heater blankets
Even some newer water heaters have no insulation, which means that more energy is required to keep tank water hot.
Installing a water-heater blanket will save energy dollars, and quickly. Follow manufacturers' recommendations carefully, especially when installing the blankets on gas water heaters.
