Use landscape lumber made from recycled plastic
Plastic landscape timbers will outlast wood.
Landscape timbers made from 100% recycled plastic are now available. Although they are not as strong structurally as wood, they won't rot and are impervious to insects. These products are now being used as railroad ties and are expected to significantly outlast wood in this type of application.
