Use natural-fiber erosion-control mats
Strong, durable and biodegradable
Erosion-control mats made from natural fibers can be used to stabilize stream banks and slopes after landscaping. They are typically made of jute, sisal, or coir (coconut husk) fibers. All are quite strong and durable, yet they will eventually biodegrade into the soil. Plantings should be well established by that point, however, and their roots will prevent erosion.
