Use newspaper for mulch
Recycle and control weeds at the same time.
Newspaper is a great mulching material that breaks down quickly into soft soil. Most newspapers are now printed with soy-based inks, so chemical contamination is minimal. Newspaper can be applied in shredded or chopped form, or laid over soil in sheets and covered with other material to hold it in place. Newspaper insulates the soil, so it should be applied after soil temperatures have reached 70 degrees.
