Use organic compost as fertilizer

Organic compost is a better choice than chemical fertilizers.
Petrochemical fertilizers take a greater toll on the environment, and they're often over-applied. Organic compost provides nutrients without harming the environment. However, some plantings, such as grass turf, should not be fertilized at all when first planted. Other plantings need a lot of support and can be fed liberally with organic fertilizers. A local Extension Service office can offer advice.
