Use prefabricated building components
Modular and prefabricated houses generate less waste
Prefabs arrive on the site as flat panels or as whole-building modules, so very little waste is generated at the building site. Efficiencies in the factory also reduce waste. This approach is especially well suited to subdivisions where many copies of essentially the same design are built. Wall and roof modules can be fine-tuned to reduce unnecessary materials. Another advantage: a house can be dried in much faster than with conventional construction.
