Use a heliodon to design shading strategies

A heliodon is a platform that  tilts and rotates to simulate the movement of the earth through different seasons and times of day in relationship to the sun. By mounting a scale model of a building on the platform, shading strategies can be tested visually. This information is very helpful for shaping and sizing overhangs, sunshades, and awnings.
