6″ penetration for exhaust fan

AugieMarsh | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

Hello,

I need to make a 6″ penetration in a gable wall from a conditioned unvented attic. I’m not experienced with doing penetrations the right way but strive to do a properly flashed and ACL/WCL sound penetration following guidelines in Allison Bailes new book. Should I move forward with this method or are there simpler retrofit practices that are acceptable. The house is roughly 110 years old and located in climate zone 5A.

Thanks for any thoughts/input.
