Advice on metal flashing for window and window trim

We are going to be residing a room on the 2nd floor and reinstalling the windows there. I’m trying to figure out how to do the metal flashing for the windows. An image is attached. The siding and trim is Hardie. I’ve looked at the Hardie video for adding metal flashing above trim (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYxR2rdkKVY). Given that the window is proud of the trim, I feel like there needs to be metal flashing over the window itself and another piece of metal flashing over the trim. Given the trim is 2 inches, I just don’t see how all of this would fit. The self-adhered flashing tape at the head of the window would have to be very narrow too.
I need some advice on how best to handle this.
Thanks

Not sure you need to be concerned about metal flashing on a window so close to a sizeable overhang like that. Here's a clause from my local building code - yours may have something similar.
"Flashing shall be installed over exterior wall openings where the vertical distance from the bottom of the eave to the top of the trim is more than one-quarter of the horizontal overhang of the eave. "
Some of the thunderstorms, derechos, and hurricanes we get around here can drive rain in very unusual ways. Perhaps there isn't a good way to do it. I thought I would ask though in case there is something that can be done.
The edges of casement are very thin too so there wouldn't be much of a lip for the flashing. I'd appreciate any advice y'all may have. Are there any good books or resources that provide details on metal flashing for windows and trim? There isn't a rainscreen there but there will be drainwrap. I'm really trying to do my best to protect this area and other areas of our home that we are repairing.
