AirKrete details gone crazy

BTGraceHomes | Posted in GBA Pro Help on

Good day everyone,

Long time reader first time poster.  LOL

I was called out to a house to investigate high humidity levels and potential mold issues.  I am north of Houston in Zone 2A (hot Humid).  This house has been worked on my one to many cooks in the kitchen I think.  Multiple AC companies and now they have a few failures that I think are resulting in the issues.  The house is a modern mid century house with cathedral ceiling in most all spaces except a small attic where the mechanical equipment is squeezed in.

I found when I went in the attic it was 71 degrees and 81% humidity and it is a very confused space.  It has airkrete insulation on the roof deck and attic floor as well as air baffles behind the roof deck airkrete.

I have searched all over for any details from them but I can only find vague info on their webpage.  This detail attached is what the installer gave the homeowner.

My first recommendation was to removed it from the attic floor but I think we may need to go at it from the exterior and block of the soffits and ridge vents.  I intend to pressurize the house with a blower door (do not want to depressurize because of mold concerns) and try to see where we can see air leakage through the roof and see if that is our main infiltration point for the moisture.  Once we seal the attic I want to add supply air to the attic and we also need to address the dehumidifier that is not working, and verify the system is actually putting out the CFM and is not having static pressure issues either for the Heat Pump AMANA system.

Any other thoughts or advice on this product?  It claims to be air tight but I can not see how that would be the case because of the amount of cracks that are in the product now that it is dry.

Thanks in Advance

Kevin

Is the whole house having humidity issues or only the attic?

Do the cathedral ceiling portions of the home have venting above the airkrete? Does the attic portion have venting for the roof above the airkrete? I guess it may not be possible to tell except I assume there would be with soffit and ridge vents.
