Basement remodel, Rockwool and foam question

User018273 | Posted in Green Building Techniques on

Hi!
I’ve started my half basement finishing process (one side already finished by unknown individual + quality before), and I had a question about what I have done so far, and if things need to be changed before it’s too late. I’m in Massachusetts. I have a full-height concrete wall on one side of the basement and half walls on the other side. I have a drain system around the perimeter of all the concrete floors with the wall inside the basement (waterguard). My basement is really dry, I had a plastic sheet taped to the basement wall and had forgotten it there for a while and no condensation has occurred in it.

1) For the full concrete walls, I have so far glued and taped 2″ R13.6 polyiso foil-faced panels and 1″ on the top sill next to the sill plate. I plan to insulate the studs with Rockwool. One area under the staircase has 1″polyiso since it’s what I could fit between the staircase. I have a 1″ gap between the drain and the bottom of the foam. Is this sound?

2) For the floor I have a dimple mat down and Advantech subflooring and I drilled holes for concrete screws + injected silicone in with it.

3) I’ve also glued/taped 1″ XPS in the I-joist rim joists and plan to insulate in front with rockwool. Should I increase the amount of foam here?

4) For the half walls, I’ve cut and foam sealed 2in polyiso (same as above) into the 6in stud bays and placed 4in of rockwool in front. I plan on adding the 2″ polyiso to the bottom half and framing in front. After reading the forums and realizing I have Tyvek on the outside with a thin layer of foam board added by the siding company a while back, should I not have put the foam board inside the joist bays? Would this prevent moisture from drying out if condensation happens?

I appreciate any insight!
