Building a doorway in a roof
Hey hope everyone is doing well. I’m redoing a door frame because I need to move the door 1-2 inches over so that a bed could fit. Right now door wouldn’t be able to swing open. When I originally made the door frame and door I cut the door top at an angle to fit roof pitch. I’m thinking I should buy a new slab door and make the frame square. Basically cut out a square door frame and use a piece of wood to cover roof when looking towards the door exit. The attached pictures will give you a better idea. Any reason you should not do it this way.

I guess you couldn't make the bed shorter.
You mean make the door shorter but rectangular in shape? I like that better than angling the top of the door.
I did make the bed shorter but either way I had to gain 1-2 inches, would have been impossible if bed was longer, thanks for help with that.
I mean to cut out the door frame square like normal by taking out part of ceiling. There is enough room that the door doesn’t need to follow the angle of the ceiling. Similar to the picture I attached. In my case the ceiling exposed is smaller than the attached picture. If I can move the door frame out an inch to the right and make the rough opening 26” wide, I can pop in a prehung door. Better aesthetically that the non mortise hinges I’m using.
I have done that on a few occasions, at either rooflines or stairs. As long as the door can be located next to the slope and not in the slope, I don't see any issues. Is there something specific that you're concerned about?
