Caulk and foam sealant compatibility with Zhender ComfoFlex ducts

mark_gil | Posted in Mechanicals on

I have a bunch of Zhender ComfoFlex 3” ducts (all inside conditioned space) that I have penetrating walls/floors where for acoustic reasons I’d like to seal them into the opening (one per duct) that they penetrate.

For most things, wire/plumbing pipe etc., I can just caulk (Big stretch) or foam (e.g Loctite low expansion foam) them into a hole to minimize air/sound leakage.

I don’t know if  anyone has come
across guidance from Zhender on compatibility with ComfoFlex?

Thanks in advance!

    Mark,

Check out DAPtex foam sealant. It is water wash up, so no need for acetone to clean up messes. I used an early version 12 years ago and found it less sticky and a bit fragile. However, I wasn't getting urethane goo on my window frames before staining and varnishing.

Sounds like the use you are proposing will be low stress and reversible without damaging the tubing.
