We've installed Broan HRV's for years, we moved to the AI series when they first entered the market. We've never used the TE series, so I can't comment on that. The AI will self-balance and maintain balance between filter and the exterior intake hood cleaning. I wouldn't be afraid of moving towards an ERV, they will also dehumidify during the heating season, just not to the point that an HRV will.

One piece of advice, confirm why you have high humidity. If it is simply because of occupant behavior and building tightness, the ERV/HRV will work great. If the moisture is from a building deficiency, such as a crawlspace without a vapor retarder, there should also be some work completed to lower the moisture load.

    Good luck,
    Randy
