Climate zone 5 wall assembly

Haldoggiedog | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

Hi all,

Just wanting to toss a proposed wall assembly out there and see if the experts would change anything.

Remodeling a 1961 home in Syracuse, NY. Wall cavities are 2×4 on 16” centers.

Proposed assembly from inside to out would be…

5/8” Sheetrock primed and painted
Rockwool R-15 between studs
1×6 tongue and groove sheathing
1.5-2.5” CC SPF (more is always better?)
3/4” rainscreen
LP Lap siding

Reading mixed things about vapor retarder requirements on the interior. I would like to omit if possible.

Second question…if I wait to install the exterior insulation for a year after completing the interior am I going to have a mess on my hands?

thanks!

Matt
