Community and Q&A

Communicating with other GBA members

Daniel Morrison | Posted in General Questions on

I get requests at least a few times per week to help people get in touch with others within the GBA community. I always forward the notes to the appropriate people, and I’m happy to do it.

These requests make the need for a better community-building apparatus even more apparent. In the coming year we ought to be able to implement something along the lines of user profiles and user groups, but it’s not at the top of our list of things that _really, really need doing right now_.

In the meantime, I’ve created a LinkedIn group for Green Building Advisor
. About a dozen people have found out about it and joined so far.

For those who don’t know what LinkedIn is:
LinkedIn is a professional networking site. Maybe a little like Facebook in that it’s ‘social media’ but its typically more work-oriented than Facebook, which seems more socially oriented. Within your linkedIn profile you can specify contact settings and communicate with other people through LinkedIn messages or actual email. You can also ask people to introduce you to folks you’d like to meet or introduce yourself.

I encourage everyone who is reading this to join the Green Building Advisor LinkedIn group
so that you can carry the conversation farther. Find the group either by clicking the links above, searching LinkedIn, or with this URL:
http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=3063188

Right now, I have to approve members who want to join, I’ll see if I can figure out how to turn that feature off so that you can just join without going through my inbox.

The reason GBA has been so successful in it’s first year and a half is the strong community here.
Thank you all for participating.
