Anyone Know North Carolina Building Code for Encapsulated Crawlspaces?

calebkirk | Posted in Building Code Questions on

Hello.  I will soon be building a home in NC for various reasons i will be building on a crawl space. I will encapsulate the crawl space and probably condition it with the home’s HVAC. My question is specifically for those on here who are familiar with NC building code. I would like to make the access to the crawl space from the interior of the house and not on the exterior wall. I have looked almost everywhere i can and the NC code states what size the access opening needs to be but it doesn’t specifically state the it needs to be open to the exterior. Would anyone be able to help me on this? Thanks.

I’m giving your question a bump. It’s very specific, so I changed the hed in hopes that someone from North Carolina will see it and be able to help.
