Curious Intello thought

jprattimberframe | Posted in General Questions on

Hello, first question posted here.

I am in the process of designing a timber frame home and muddling through the difficult envelope decisions.  My main question revolves around the usage of intello, but my layers from the outside go as follows.

1. Clapboards
2. Furring
3.  3″ Rockwool comfortboard
4.  Tyvek
5.  Pine Sheathing
6.  Studs
7.  Batt instulation (potentially a double wall but that’s still tbd)
8.  Intello
9.  Furring
10.  Drywall

I was wondering if there was any viability in wrapping the outside of the sills, posts, and wall girts in intello and then running the intello on the interior wall as you would with a typical install.  I see this as a potential solution to having to work around the million instrusions (Ties, joists, floor girts) that require cutouts, taping, and potential failures.  I don’t like the idea of wrapping the top of the sill on the flat so i would probably install a beveled filler piece that sat on top of the sill.  I’m just looking for creative solutions in avoiding foam.  Thank you.
