Do I need to worry?

alcoprop | Posted in General Questions on

So I am in Ohio and we just got the stay at home order for at least 2 weeks maybe longer. This just means that all my subs are going to be at least a month out. I have exterior comfortboard 80 and furring strips up and I just got my lid drywalled in preparation for blower door test. No hvac in the house. Comfortboard has been up for about 3 weeks waiting for my siding sub. He has been behind b/c we have had a lot of rain the last 2 weeks. Is my exterior ok uncovered for another month most likely? I would think I wouldn’t have anything to worry about on the inside of the house with no insulation installed?

With exterior insulation, you have nothing to worry about. My guess your WRB is under the comfort board, so well protected from the sun, the siding can be off for many months without issues.

If you need to, you can also start heating the inside. If you are using a fuel burner, make sure it vents to the outside. A bit of heat goes a long ways for creature comfort when putting in utilities.

I've read that birds will nest in rock wool that's unprotected. Since it's spring time, you may want to keep an eye out for that to make sure they don't get comfortable. Maybe hang some old shiny CDs on strings to irritate them.
