ERV Connecting to Ducted Mini Split?

user-7381448 | Posted in Mechanicals on

Hi,

We have a small basement in Asheville NC that would need a little heating for and fresh air.  I read of this idea and it sounds economical and helpful.  Would love any suggestions or feedback.

ERV fresh air intake > ducted mini split head > interior >

I wonder about the CFM of the head messing up the ERV balancing.  Maybe a self balancing ERV is needed?

Thanks!

I JUST bought a new ERV for this purpose. I had an early Broan unit that wasn't auto balancing. I learned that the new units auto balance so I bought a new one.
The manual shows the kind of connection to which you refer. Broan refers to it as a T1, T2, T3 and T4 configuration depending on how the ducts are connected.
Take a peek at page 6, here: https://www.broan-nutone.com/getmedia/b44db6e1-7cec-4416-b839-08f2a1775fc8/Installation-Guide-Users-Manual-AI-Series.pdf?ext=.pdf
I am not affiliated with Broan.
