ERV Options

GJPehl | Posted in Mechanicals on

Hello GBA’ers

I’ve got an ERV that might need replacing, so I’m just hoping for a quick run down of resources I should be looking at- I tried a search, but it ‘ERV’ comes back with roughly 10 trillion results, and the first few pages didn’t seem to show much from the past few years.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Gerald, you probably saw this collection: https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/collection/hrvs-and-ervs? ERV companies come and go and their technology is always changing so in this case it's probably best to just ask for suggestions. I usually spec Zehnder, Lunos, Broan or Panasonic, but I'm also interested in the Minotair unit which has some additional features.

Hello Michael- thanks very much for reply. So the reason we're looking at replacing is that we're having trouble getting support- is there a manufacturer who you know to be responsive? I'm a builder, so I'm also looking for a line that I can use in my designs, but I really need to be working with a manufacturer with a partner mindset.

Zehnder is well known for their customer support, and for being high quality and expensive. They really set the benchmark for residential ventilation. Broan and Panasonic are huge companies that aren't going anywhere but I don't recall dealing with their customer support. I'm not sure if anyone other than foursevenfive.com sells Lunos but I know they have great service and support.
