Exterior insulation – How to install metal flashing around window

Hi there,

Like in the attached picture, I am planning to install custom made metal flashing to accommodate 1 1/2″ of exterior foam around already installed windows.

Does the flashing need to be flushed around the window or should a small gap be left?

I am planning to to caulk the corners. Should I also caulk between the window and the flashing?
