Fiberglass baffles for a closed attic?

Woodworker99 | Posted in GBA Pro Help on

I had open-cell foam applied directly to my metal roof deck in climate zone 4a.  The installer insists that the 5.5″ of open cell is fine being sprayed against rolled-up fiberglass at the soffits.  Since there is nothing that is vapor resistant at the soffit, wouldn’t the open cell just soak it up?  Im having all kinds of moisture and mold issues.

You really want to be using closed cell spray foam, especially if you are already having moisture issues up there. Aside from that, the fiberglass is just acting as a sort of end stop for the spray foam to be sprayed against and shouldn't be a problem itself.
