Foamglas Perinsul alternative in Europe

davorradman | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

I’m trying to find a product which I would use to try and break the cold bridge between slab and wall.
I am attaching a mockup on how it would be done.

We are not building to passivhaus standard. If we were, I would opt for raft insulation, but it’s far too expensive. Also, our PM says it’s not important to deal with this cold bridge.

But i’d still like to see for myself what would it cost. Problem is, I have no idea under what market name are these kinds of products sold her in Europe. I have only come across this material here on gba.

Can someone point me to a manufacturer of such a product here in Europe?

Also, can anyone suggest what depth should I go with XPS if I do not go through with this foamglas like material? Climate here is ~Philadelphia. I am not sure where is the frost line, but footing usually go to ~80cm depth.

    Davor,
Using the local footing depth (in your case, 80 cm = 31.5 inches) as a guide to the depth of your vertical rigid foam at the perimeter of your foundation makes sense. Remember that the above-grade portion of this rigid foam needs to be protected from abuse and sunlight with some type of stucco or metal flashing.

Perhaps one of these approaches would be easier to implement?
