    Most structural concrete applications require rebar. About the only time reinforcing isn't routinely used is in things like basement and patio slabs, although even there, rebar or remesh can be helpful.

    If you have a set of plans, the engineer should have a detail for the configuration of the rerod/rebar in the foundation pour. The configuration, size, and placement of the reinforcement can be critical to the application.
