Hardwood flooring

bishop645 | Posted in General Questions on

What specialized tool exists that can cut a groove into an unfinished hardwood floor board? Hand held router or is their a special blade that can be used on a table saw to cut out the groove?

table saw will slot your ripped flooring. You can glue and face nail your rips instead. Glue to the floor if just a piece or two with subfloor adhesive. Go to the flooring section of HD and the floor rep should be able to help you. Their flooring guy may even be able to help you get past your dilemma in person for very little cost too.

If you can't figure out how to groove a floor board, I favor you getting some expert hands as table saws are one of our most dangerous finger removing tools that we use.

    Kevin,
If it's just a few boards, you can also use a biscuit joiner and biscuits.
