Community and Q&A

Has anyone found a window that meets passive house standards and also carries an ASTM impact rating for the 110 mph zone?

So far the only thing I find that’s close is from Dynamic.

    Carole,
I'm not aware of any windows that meet those requirements.

If I were you, I would focus on the wind rating. Among windows meeting that rating, choose the window that has the lowest U-factor.

Remember, the Passivhaus Institut allows uncertified windows to be included in a Passivhaus. You can still get the house certified -- although you may have to adjust some other envelope specs to make the building work.

Yuh - that's the conclusion I've come to - the required impact rating can be a real challenge! - thanks for your input
