Heat pump in a vaulted living room?

| Posted in General Questions on

Hi,

I’m wondering if anyone has any experience installing a heat pump in a vaulted living room? I ask because I’m wondering to what extent a higher ceiling would affect its ability to heat the space. I should say: installing a ceiling fan isn’t an option, unfortunately.

The attached drawing isn’t 100% accurate, but it should at least give you a sense of the layout. The red x’s are spots where a head won’t fit; the green y’s are possibilities.

I also wondered whether a floor console might be a better option, but I wasn’t sure. And there’s actually only one spot would fit because of the baseboards.

We’ve had a few companies through, and opinions have varied, so I suspect it’s just a challenging space to configure.

Any thoughts would be appreciated,

Dave.
